Best Thyroid Replacement for weight loss?

Question

What is the best Thyroid Replacement for weight loss? Feeling so frustrated having gained almost 70 pounds in the past year, the majority of it being after my Thyroidectomy 6 months ago. Endos and doctors keep suggesting a better “diet” and exercising more. I work two jobs, study for school, and still manage to eat a healthy diet and hit the gym at least 3 times a week. My TSH level is shit and nobody wants to put me in suppression

  2. Taylor, I would look for an alternative physician and read this blog thoroughly. There are a lot of smart folks here who have been through it all! Good luck and don’t give up!

  3. Don’t let them push you around. Nobody understands how you feel better than you do.

  4. Find a new dr. No med will lose weight for you.

  5. NDT probs with added T3 all depending on your blood results.

  6. STOP. NDT with gluten free and you will lost weight in a second.

  7. What is NDT?

  8. I would try gluten free.

  9. I think there’s a lot of useful information here coming from people with a lot of experience. However, you need to make aligning yourself to a new doctor priority. Don’t ever take medical advice from internet or Facebook feedback. Again, its good info but you need to get with the right doctor.

  10. NDT will change your life

  11. Are you gluten free? I was just like that…eating the way I thought was healthy and cardio every day but the pounds just kept piling on. That’s how I found out I have Hashimotos. After going gluten free and quitting the cardio is when the weight just started falling off. I do yoga for my exercise now. I lost 25 pounds in 3 months going gluten free and later I went dairy free also but that was more to alleviate the other symptoms. I don’t eat soy never have and I drink 1/2 my body weight in oz of water each day. I also do not eat white sugar or fake sugar. I am on nature-throid but I had already lost 25 pounds before that. I started gluten free this past April. Now I’m 35 pounds lighter than I was then and it keeps going down gradually. I’m still 20 pounds heavier than I want to be but I know I will get there soon. I’ve also traded out much of my body fat for muscle doing yoga. Best of luck to you. I hope this helps

  12. I’m on Armour thyroid, is yours much better?

  13. Gluten free, no dairy, stay hydrated, get sleep at night and move around more during the day.

  14. Are your T3, T4, and RT3 optimal?\nDon’t know what those are, then find a new doctor.
Look for a functional medicine or Integrative doctor.
Most endocrinologists don’t treat Hashimoto’s since it’s an autoimmune disease, not strictly thyroid.

  15. You may have a hard time finding a doc to prescribe you naturethroid or armour. Call your local pharmacies and see which docs prescribe them. I’m just starting gf today! We’ve got this, sister!

  16. i take nature-throid

  17. The only thing that has worked for me in that aspect (over trying different things for 6 years) is taking nature-throid, eating gluten free, and making sure I’m on a good regimen of supplements.

  18. I’m on Armour and found a program that works awesome! Pm me if you want more info. Many hashi’s friends have had lots of success!

  19. AIP, see also AiP support group
