Can they diagnose you that your sensitive?

Question

I was just reading the post of gluten sensitive reactions. My question is can they diagnose you that your sensitive? I was told my twins who are 5 had celiac, then they said it wasn’t. We started eating gluten after 7 months of not and my kids ache all over , have headaches, mean, irritable, and extreme stomach pain. I’m frustrated with gastroenterologist because my son vomited everyday for three years. My daughter is in constant pain. When we were gluten free we had absolutely no symptoms. They have to have another endo at the end of the month. My daughter knows gluten hurts her belly and even tells me she doesn’t want gluten. Is there a way I can tell they have the sensitivity? I just want my kiddos pain free!

  1. I had a blood test that showed no food allergies but “low” levels of intolerance to wheat and dairy.

  2. You don't need a docs diagnosis to be gluten free. Ive not got my results back yet and even if they come back negative im still not touching gluten again cos i know i feel 100% better without it. I dont care what any doc says!

  3. Food is powerful. Lots of people can experience a wheat belly. I had my allergies tested through blood work

  4. It sounds like you know what works for your kids. Mom powers.

  5. Sounds like your kiddos need to be tested for EOE…look it up…it's nothing to mess with but if your GI doesn't specialize I it …you need to find one that knows it bwtter

  6. So if it makes them sick stop giving it to him. How about this, doctors do not study nutrition. They have little understanding on the relationship between food and health. Please ask your doctor how many hour od nutrition he received in medical school.

  7. It's best to go by how you feel and trust your intuition .. on blood tests I am supposedly fine .. I had terrible migraines, constantly, and fatigue. Now cut out gluten – am feeling a lot better. Even though now and then I test my body and eat gluten .. nope don't like it. So I rather be pain free.. yes listen to your mom instinct- you got this girl

  8. I totally get not to give it to them and trust me it's sparingly now. He said they had to consume gluten for this test. The only reason I've been allowing them to eat it is solely because I just want to know what is really wrong. He said sometimes problems mask themselves as a gluten sensitivity and are not. I just felt like we could finally move forward. They have an endo this month for EOE. I was hoping to hear from you all on other ways to test for it. I'm very interested in the blood test as well. I just want my kids to feel better forever!
Unfortunately I'm in the military and have to move more than I prefer so we've seen three different gastro docs and I move again this summer.

  9. If it makes them sick, then they're intolerant. Don't give it to them. Done.

  10. My daughter is 4 and has both a dairy and gluten intolerance. You need to see a dr to be referred to a dietitian. They don't diagnose celiac at an early age as they have to eat the foods that are making them ill for 8 weeks. I won't put my daughter through that. Make sure you cut out what is making them Ill and your find they are much happier

  11. I feel for you. There is a blood test but there are many components to it. Most docs don't even believe in gluten allergies. It took me 3 docs ,18 mos of g.i. symptoms, a wt loss that brought me very close to death, before a kind doc in a vacation town, listened to me and drew all the right bloods and did an emergency endoscopy and my numbers were very high. The minute they drew the blood he told me to go gluten free and I immediately stopped vomiting and having pain. That was 2 years ago and now I actually have to watch my weight. It's so easy to go gluten free these days just listen to your heart. Mama's intuition is very important and usually right. Good luck.

  12. Even if they don't test positive for celiac. It doesn't mean they don't have gluten sensitivity. I bet a good many people on this board do not have celiac. I'm one of them. If you trust many of the original paleo experts ALL humans have wheat sensitivity.

  13. Most gastro docs don't do the most comprehensive testing that shows levels of inflammatory response, not just celiac positive. That's in part because insurance doesn't pay for the best.test. But you already know that's what your kids are suffering from, so I encourage you to stick to the diet. You may want to look for a functional medicine doc, often chiropractors. My husband is one in NC and orders the right test for patients who want to know.

  14. Celiac and allergy are different. Maybe they are allergic to wheat or gluten. Either way – sounds like getting off it is best for all.

  15. They can order a wheat test (blood work) and it shows how strong of an allergy they have. Don't feed them wheat if they get sick, regardless of what the doctors say!

  16. I say if it bothers them don't give it to them. Wife force them to eat something because the doctor said they don't have celiac or gluten allergy. I don't have a gluten allergy or celiac diagnosis, however my doctor told me to cut out of my diet to see how I would feel. It's only been about a month, and tonight I made big ziti for the family and for Missionaries. It looked and smelled so good I decided to have a small bowl couldn't hurt right? Wrong!! My stomach is in knots. Tonight just proves to me that regardless of the diagnosis my guts don't like it.

  17. I say if it bothers them don't give it to them. Why force them to eat something because the doctor said they don't have celiac or gluten allergy. 18. Stool test through enterolab will show sensitivity and also show where on the spectrum you are.

  19. I think you have your answer. Stay gluten free! Not all of us are celiac who notice a difference when we cut it out.

  20. If gluten is causing a reaction don't give it to them. You don't need a medical confirmation. Feeding them good that you see pain, discomfort etc will cause damage to their bodies and over time create more disease.

  21. Cyrex labs has a test. Talk to a naturopath about getting a test kit.

  22. You can do the 23 and me genetic saliva test. I've had negative allergy tests and negative celiac blood test. Positive for gluten intolerance from 23 and me. You can order online. If you tell them they will give me a referral bonus which can be used to purchase more kits.

  23. My husband is gluten intolerant. I am not. Yet because for the last 20 plus year I just do not buy or cook with anything that has gluten in it. When me or my daughters eat a lot of gluten, or for an extended period, we all know it. Our stomachs act up have joint issues which is all inflammatory issues. So we cut out the gluten and after a few weeks we are all back to normal. It is not just wheat, gluten is in everything including medicines. Read labels and get them off gluten and see if things change. My husband says they are medical practitioners because they are practicing.

  24. I'd "fire" your GI Doctor. I'm curious as to why doctor said your kids didn't have celiac but may have sensitivities or intolerances to gluten. Avoid it because, as you've found, it's not worth feeling/being sick and irritable. You know your kids and you advocate for their medical needs. Responses to Sensitivieties and intolerances to gluten can reveal symptoms just like you mentioned. I do and I just have intolerances. Every body is different. Hope you find a great GI and Endocrinologist! Suggestion: do your research on their qualifications and if they specialize in pediatrics.
