Do you miss it and if so how do you combat that?

Question for people with hormonal IUDs or BC that no longer get a period: Do you miss it and if so how do you combat that?? Lately I’ve been feeling really down and ive started to realize that it’s partially because I no longer menstruate. I have a really good relationship with my body and I think not having a period has gotten me a little down.

  1. Just want to say you are NOT crazy at all! I've become totally in tune with the rhythm of my body, and I'd find not having a period difficult! Birth control is a very personal decision, and if you are happy with the method you are using that's great, but just realize that missing your period is a good sign, not a bad sign!

  2. I don't miss having periods at all.

  3. I have Mirena. Had it for 6 months and I still have long periods. It sucks.

  4. I love not having my period!

  5. I have the Mirena and I hated my periods. They were irregular and painful when they came, and I bled like a stuck hog for days. I've had my IUD for about 4 months now and the spotting has just now stopped. I'm not sad about it; I feel a sense of freedom. I don't have to worry about carrying a box of pads and tampons each on my person at all times, and I don't have to worry about bleeding onto everything I happen to put on that day. It'll get better. I'm sorry that you feel that way. Loving your body is such a wonderful thing. Changing part of it can be scary and sad, but just know that you can always change your mind and go back to the way things were if you are unhappy. 🙂 Hope this helps.

  6. I've hated having periods since I started having them when I was 12 (28 years ago). Nope, I don't miss them.

Now if I could get rid of these breasts that I've been hating for that long also (without major, expensive surgery), that'd be great.

  7. I'm still trying to get pregnant, after getting off the nexplanon

  8. I don't like the fact I don't get a period every month for the sole fact I worry I might be pregnant, but I love not having a period! I don't feel any less of a women, but that might be because I birthed a child, haha.

  9. My body was destroyed by nexplanon, I'd rather have my periods than all the problems I have now

  10. I haven't had my period in two years, thanks to getting OFF (yes OFF) the nexplanon, and yes I really miss it, I had cramps that would keep me bed ridden, and I ruined lots of panties, but I miss it, my body was so much more in order until I quit having my periods, I want my body back…

  11. I loved not having a period on Mirena. I wish I knew sooner that the 'period' I got while on the pill for years wasn't even a real period anyway and didn't need it happen. Total waste of energy!

  12. I loved not having it on the mirena, but once I got off it, I actually enjoyed being of FAM and monitoring my body and what it could do. I feel ya!

  13. I absolutely love not having my period!

  14. I haven't had a period for nearly three years. Pregnancy and then breastfeeding so it hasn't returned yet. I don't use hormonal birth control and its been very strange not having periods so I know where your coming from. For me its a constant reminder that I can't have anymore children for now….. 🙁

  15. ill be honest…i'm on Lo Loestrin FE, and it stops your period (or does so for many women) I never had a painful period. I've never had cramps….im super lucky, I know!! While i'm not scared about not knowing about pregnancy when I don't bleed, as i'm a perfect pill user, I do sometimes feel like i'm missing out a little on the whole thing. It sounds really weird, but we tie that part of our biology to something being uniquely feminine. IDK, i know there's no use for a period, medically, and I love the $$ I save with not buying products, etc., but I do sometimes miss it. It's very strange. Having said that, the convenience and ease of not getting one is far more of a "plus" for me, so I'll stay on this pill till I decide to get off BC all together.

  16. I was on an extended regime while I was on the pill before I had my Mirena, so I'm used to the fact that I would have a period for 3-4 months.

I'm hoping my period stops completely with my Mirena.
It's an inconvenience to me. I remember before I started getting my periods at 10 that I dreaded the day I would start to have them.

  17. Crazy! It's such an inconvenience I don't know how anyone could miss it
