Does anyone else here have or had nodules?

I’m sure that this has been discussed here before and I apologize for making a repeat of the topic, but I need advice, words of comfort or something regarding this. I was diagnosed with Hashi’s last May and to say that it’s been a struggle would be an understatement! In December I asked my family physician to do an ultrasound of my thyroid because I was worried that there might be something there. Sure enough there were 3 nodules. I can’t remember what sizes they were right off hand but if I’m thinking correctly one was 9mm (but I can’t be positive without looking at the report and I don’t have it here with me). My gyn did a follow up ultrasound this past Monday and she’s waiting for another physician to take a look at them since she doesn’t have the actual pics from the first one. She had mentioned that I might have to have a biopsy of the nodules. Does anyone else here have or had nodules on their thyroid and has anyone here had a biopsy done? I know that I’m working myself up into a panic without reason as of right now but I’m really scared just because biopsy was mentioned. Thanks.

  1. I have had a nodule but no biopsy done as it shrunk after I started the meds. I’ve been diagnosed for 4 years now. Hopefully someone else will chime in but hang in there this disease will get you all worked up and every other emotion but it will get easier in time. My niece had the biopsy done and then had her thyroid removed with radiation and she is now a mom and a lawyer ? just trying to ease your mind some hun

  2. I do. I had the biopsy done. It really wasn’t a big deal. It was uncomfortable, but not painful. I got the results the next day. That was over a year ago. I’ve had another ultrasound but haven’t had to repeat the biopsy.

  3. I had two nodules on my thyroid. They didn’t do a biopsy, but I did have surgery to have them removed… cancer. I hope all goes well for you.

  4. I was diagnosed last February and had an ultrasound have nodules on is 4mm and the suspicious one 18mm and two biopsies first one inconclusive than 6 months later another Benign( yahh) found a new doctor who did further test my tumor markers are 3times than normal and I have Atypical cells going for my third biopsy next Tuesday and instead of a scrape they are going to take a piece. Don’t give up keep asking questions and demand they do the test that you want and if you have to find another doctor. I have been to four in a year. GOOD LUCK!!!!

  5. I have a nodule or 2. Can’t remember how many. Got sent to an ENT (which I’m going to try to use him for my hoshimotos cuz hes great) he said that nodules are very common for people but to check them every so often to see if they’re growing. If they’re not getting bigger don’t worry about it. Also, look into other drs before you get surgery done just in case.

  6. I’ve had them for years. I was told they were benign. They are a bit annoying but I think they can shrink with the right supplements. Am I wrong about that?

  7. I have nodules…think Dr said COLD …ones & he did a biopsy…no cancer at least…doesn’t hurt…..GOD BLESS …..

  8. I have nodules, have had several biopsies. I have been diagnosed since 2008 and so far no cancer. I have also had a thyroid uptake and numerous other tests. Most nodules are benign….good luck on your journey. Stay positive.

  9. I’ve had several and get checked twice a year, try to stay calm as stress flares up Hashimoto’s symptoms.

  10. I had one, Biopsy was done and all good. 🙂 Don’t stress too much, they have to check

  11. Thank you all for the information. I really appreciate it.

  12. I had 2 before my thyroidectomy ,,,,stay calm And relax,,,don’t hurt so much,,,Im pray to you,,,

  13. Yes..I have nodules, and I have had the biopsy…it doesnt hurt…Please don’t get to’s over and probably no cancer either…we will all say Prayers for U and please update after the procedure…GOD Bless….
